Kiss of death

Apr 25, 2007

Next Monday, I will blow the kiss of death onto the world of finance! Though I was never a finance guy, I had this curiosity to take a close look at it and then bid adieu. I (successfully) completed the Financial Management module last semester and went ahead taking Investment Analysis this semester (daring me!). What happened during the semester doesn't count as I was too busy to evaluate anything I was doing. Now, as I am settling down after the breakneck speed, I can see things more clearly. I had a look at next term's list of modules and had hard time finding 5 non-finance electives. Not that the curriculum doesn't have choice. It's just that I have lost interest in anything which has nothing to do with what I want to do in my life. People say, "Staying focused is good". I have to agree but being focused on something too narrow blinds you to the other facets. I am so full of my dreams of making it big in Supply Chain that I don't even read magazines which are un-related. Now, that's what I call obsession. And it's bad for a person who hasn't seen the world yet. Being obsessed is not bad, per se, but it should come after carefully evaluating your options. May be that's what I was doing when I opted to take the module "Investment Analysis" this semester. Well, in that case, I would say that I did evaluate it and I came to a decision. Next Monday, I will blow the kiss of death onto the world of finance!
