Double Standard?

1) Yahoo denies family access to dead marine's e-mail
2) Yahoo faces scrutiny in China case
The first news happened almost 2.5 years back. This article caught my attention as I strongly opposed this move by Yahoo. I felt that yahoo was just acting too smart to get some media attention. They were just making a point on how much they value confidentiality.
But when it comes to diplomatic pressures and danger of getting banned from the country, all their principles disappear in thin air (Read News Article 2). The FT article further has a special paragraph which proves my point further ahead:
"In the 18 months since the committee hearing, three other instances have come to light in which Yahoo handed over information about suspected dissidents to Chinese authorities, all three of which pre-dated the Shi Tao case. The Dui Hua Foundation last week published a document showing Yahoo had handed over information about a user in 2002 over an investigation into “suspected inciting of subversion”. The user, Wang Xiaoning, was later sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment."
So, there practise Confidentiality selectively?!!
