.......a journey called life

If you have seen any of the gazillion things Singapore Government is doing for 42nd National Day, you Probably know what "Possibicity" is! This year, the theme of the national day is "City of Possibilities" or better known as "Possibicity".

Its a month long celebration with as much as 15 events to mark the 42nd Birthday of this nation. I had the privilege of being a part of one of the events yesterday (The Fireworks...Link for Pictures). Packed with a crowd of 27000 Singaporeans, the firework was just mesmerizing! I have seen one more firework in my life (Thunder Over Louisville). Even though the one in Louisville is at least 6 times larger than this (going by number of shells fired) and 30 times larger in terms of crowd, I liked the Singapore one quite a bit for several reasons. First, I was with my wife for this magnificent display. Second, the fireworks was done with Singapore skyline as a backdrop. Third, I was already impressed with the floating platform they have made for the National Day Celebration. Fourth, I am Singaporean lah! (well...kind of!)

It's just amazing what this small country has achieved in 41 years of independence. It has already expanded to 704 Sq Km (by the way, more than 20% of this is reclaimed from the sea). From a third world country to a first world in such a short time is a feat in itself. Besides, the continuous focus of the country to redefine itself in one way or the other is just amazing. From Logistics Hub to Gaming Resort to Night F1 Race to Finance Hub to whatever is next in line!
