Wah Taj!

Jan 13, 2008

There was a long queue to get inside one of the most beautiful monument on the face of the earth. But it was worth the wait!

But after you have gone through the pain of waiting, what you see is absolutely stunning

The sheer size of the monument just awes you. Take a look at the size of the human being at the basement and you'd get an idea of the magnanimous structure. The structure represents the finest example of Mughal Empire and most beautiful creation by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan (amongst Red Fort, Jama Masjid and sections of Lahore and Agra Forts).

But what am I driving at and why am I writing this post?

I am writing this post because I was so pissed off by the areas surrounding "The Taj" and the attitude of the policemen and the authorities on duty at "The Taj".

Infrastructure: Until we reached the Taj, it was difficult to imagine that such unkept roads are leading people to one of the wonders of the world. There is no bypass which can help the tourist avoid the congested city roads to reach Taj. It really tests your patience. And you sometimes wonder if all the pain is worth it!

Administration: The policemen are as rude as they can be. The administrators (in civil dress) are at the least, unhelpful. They have some weird rules of what is allowed and what is not! Basically, they are incompetent bunch of people entrusted with protecting the wonder of the world and they have no idea how to get this done in a systematic manner.

Anyway, I have no complaints since I got the final result but I couldn't agree more that the journey and the means of reaching the end could have been a far smoother one.

Hey! You should put up some of your photos on www.picturesteal.com. A great place to share your adventures in India. I've done so too :)
